Murat YAKIN - Composer

Bio

Born in 1977, in Ankara, Turkey. He holds a DMA degree in composition from University of Memphis, and an MM degree from Istanbul Technical University, Center for Advanced Studies in Music. He is currently teaching composition, music theory, and 20th century music classes at Baskent University State Conservatory as an associate professor of composition.

He worked composition with Kamran Ince, Pieter Snapper, Reuben De Lautour, and Hasan Uçarsu. He has received performances by Diskant Ensemble, UMS ‘N JIP, Argento Chamber Ensemble. He has received several commissions, some of them are by UMS ’N JIP, Seda Röder, Baskent University State Conservatory. His piece Lacrymae in Seda Röder's Listening to Istanbul album, he also published an album named Dirty Crystal which consists of 3 of his works.

He published an album under name “Dirty Crystal”. He also published a music theory book in Turkish titled “Müzik Teorisi I”, an extended playing techniques method of piano named “Playing Extended Piano”, as well as some of his scores.
